St John, New Brunswick
Tides in the Bay of Fundy where St John is located are extreme - as much as 60 feet in some areas. The tides near St John are large enough to cause the St John River to flow backward while the tide is coming in, and cause rapids that flow first one way then the other at Reversing Falls. We arrived a bit too early and weren't able to hang around long enough to catch the reversal, but here you can see the rapids starting to form as the tide comes in. The Golden Princess and downtown St John are visible in the backgroumd.
