Point Defiance

I've now moved on to the Point Defiance Park docks, where I'm about to take a short ferry ride out to Vashon Island and back. But first, a couple of wildlife photos.

The first picture is of a young gull who proudly posed for me.

I think this is a black grebe, but I'm not really sure.

I've since been informed that this is a Barrow's Goldeneye, and the pictures I've found elsewhere seem to confirm that.

Some more gulls, with Anthony's restaurant in the background.

A better view of Anthony's.

Here comes the ferry - it's about two miles accross the sound from Point Defiance to Vashon, so this shot was taken at extreme magnification (6X).
